In Homer’s Iliad, Achilles once said “We men are wretched things,” and I agree with him, to a point.

The wretchedness in us is only offset by the goodness of men like these men, who are willing to risk everything in order to try and right wrongs.

It is discouraging that it seems that all that can be done to set things right is to punish the wrong-doers, and it seems like the good men work overtime just to minimize the damage that bad men do, much less prevent it or set it right, but the fact is that without men like these, the world would be chaos.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” Edmund Burke

“The true test of a man’s character is what he does when he thinks no one is watching” John Wooden
