About 30″ when I’m measuring. Not extremely accurate but +/- 10′ per 100 yrds. 390-430 feet, call it 125-135 yards. I’m agnostic on coyotes. Occasionally have very young calves predated. Doesn’t break my heart that I missed. She’ll hopefully associate my calves with scary loud whizzy bad things from now on.

What’s your pace count? That sounds like 50-60 yards or so.

After reading this post I stumbled on a unique opportunity this morning while checking calves on winter range. I topped a rise and surprised a coyote. By the time I had a round from my Shield .40 downrange the coyote was 172 paces out. I missed six feet left but was bang on in elevation holding approximately top of back. Remarkable.

I’ve also hit targets during my 25 yr LE career in excess of 100 yards with a revolver and pistol. In fact, I had a Colt Anaconda that was deadly at 100. So yea, a sgt., some practice, and I think it could be done. A little help from God does’t hurt either.
